A sheep will say…
“Hmm, well you know, you really probably shouldn’t be promoting this type of training. Especially the weapon stuff. And quick KILLS?! What if this type of knowledge falls into the wrong hands?! Me? I’ll just stick to nice neighborhoods. And if I get mugged, I’ll give him my stuff and than run away.”
But what if you can’t outrun them. What if they want more than your belongings. What if you end up like Tom ap Rhys Pryce.
Tom wasted valuable time giving a pair of predators everything he had. Time Tom could have used to create an EFFECTIVE defense and escape. If only had Tom been properly armed with the right TRAINING, TACTICS, and TOOLS.
Tom did everything a civilized person was taught to do.
Only to be chased down, jumped on, and kicked repeatedly about the body and the face. Only to be STABBED repeatedly about his heart and his hip. Only to be asked one last question…
“What else have you got?”
And to this, Tom mustered…
“Nothing, you’ve got everything.”
Most of you reading don’t need me to tell you predators exist. Yet some of you sheepdogs will say…
“WTF, these techniques are too intense. From a legal perspective, you’re probably looking at manslaughter charges. I’d rather just use my gun.”
Hell, even Penn & Teller, my favorite pair of Libertarian and pro-gun comedians had this to say about the SDC Combatives Program as taught by my instructor, Damian Ross.
In an episode covering “Martial Arts,” while they admitted to the brutal effectiveness of the system (who wouldn’t?), they also made fun of it as well for being sadistic.
“WTF, you’d feel good about taking someone’s life?!”
“Sounds like overreacting out of paranoia!”
“Your students are looking at manslaughter charges.”
Keep in mind, these same jokers are vocal proponents of the right to bear arms as seen in their episode arguing AGAINST gun control.
So how is your daughter shooting and killing her attempted rapist different from if she had killed him using her SDC Combatives training? Was she not in fear of her life? And aren’t you happier off than if she hadn’t?
The goal is NOT to maximize harm to your attacker, it is to MINIMIZE harm done to yourself and your loved ones. The reality is you just might have to fight with your bare hands and feet. SO you may access your gun. OR if you don’t own one, you just don’t own one.
And the nature of close quarters combat is UGLY.
There isn’t a bullet to do the dirty work for you. It takes a lot more work on your part to get the same desired result of stopping a determined attacker. But NOWHERE in the SDC Combatives Training System does it tell you to try to kill anyone. Had Penn & Teller actually been training and paying close attention, they would have heard how Damian Ross always reminds his students to escape as soon as safely possible.
But the reality is, like with shooting someone, hitting your attacker in the systematic manner taught may cause injuries which he may die from. Anything from him hitting his head on the concrete to dislocating his neck. When you are in fear for your life and your adrenaline is going, you’re going to do whatever it takes to stop a determined attack. And when you don’t have a gun, it’s going to look a lot uglier than pulling a trigger. It’s going to look like what you see in the SDC Combatives Training System.
Legally, Penn & Teller cite the genius of a non-lawyer by the name of Marc MacYoung. The misunderstanding he alludes to is the “teaching of an unarmed neck dislocation of a downed, unarmed individual as self defense.”
Well, NO. In Module 12 aka “Quick Kills and Finishing Techniques,” at no point does Damian Ross tell YOU to kill someone. He simply supplies the knowledge of how this has HISTORICALLY been done and HOW IT CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU TODAY.
Like guns, this information is ALREADY out there. It originated with sentry removal as taught to the OSS in WW2. And how do you know for sure if he’s armed?
Someone breaks into your apartment in the middle of the night and you manage to sneak up on him. Low light conditions, in fear for your life, are you going to give him the first shot at you? Whatever the first shot may be, be it a punch, a stab, or a bullet, do YOU want to be on the receiving end of it?
The reality is, every module of the training system is BOTH a weapons defense module AND a multiple attackers module as well as a WEAPONS RETENTION MODULE. Just because Damian isn’t necessarily demonstrating with a PAIR of training partners or they aren’t SHOWING a weapon, DOES NOT MEAN THEY AREN’T THERE. Just like in real life, THINGS ARE WORST THAN THEY APPEAR.
Just ask Tom.
Unfortunately for Tom, he lived(and died) in England. And I will never forget my one and last trip to the pussified nanny state which had a sign at the airport specifically banning the DEFENSIVE use of OC pepper spray. But, I digress. Luckily, in America, we have the 2nd Amendment’s right to bear arms. Some of us can conceal carry, some of us can at least have it in the home.
But if you own a firearm, what if it’s not there when you need it?
What if you get taken to the ground before you can draw out of your holster. And beaten in an MMA ground and pound by a younger, faster, more experienced fighter?
Just ask George Zimmerman.
If only he was trained Guardian Defensive Tactics, he might have diffused the situation without getting taking down and without even firing.
This is why I’m thrilled my instructor Damian Ross has just released a “new” program called Guardian Weapons Retention (RIGHT HERE) designed for us civilians who own firearms. We don’t own firearms to maximize our damage to an attacker, we do it to MINIMIZE the harm done to our bodies and to our minds. And the bodies and minds of our loved ones.
Here’s a video of me doing a typical training session of Guardian Weapons Retention.
We aren’t cops, so we don’t need to know a bunch of different ways to subdue and handcuff someone. We just want to know how we can be damn sure no criminal scumbag will EVER
A) be able to wrestle our gun out of our hands
B) knock us out before we can draw
Ross excerpts ONLY the relevant sections RIGHT HERE pertaining to firearms retention from the same programs he teaches law enforcement aka Guardian Defensive Tactics(GDT). And the beauty is, it builds off of the same tactics you learn since day one of training in SDC Combatives. Click the link above to check it out. You might even be able to get a special discount.
Until next time…
